The Yarndale festival is now its fifth year and has grown to become popular with visitors from throughout the UK and overseas.

Low Carb, High Fat diners enjoy diet success at the Rendezvous Hotel lunch
For those of you who don’t know, we run a regular Low Carb, High Fat (LCHF) lunch here at the Rendezvous Hotel.
LCHF diets are extremeley useful in treating Type 2 Diabetes, as well as offering help and hope for a host of other medical conditions. The diet first came about as a way of moderating Epiliepsy, and is still used successfully for this. But nowadays, many more people are drawn because of the health benefits that a low carb high fat diet can bring, like bringing your blood sugar under control. And, of course, people seem to like the side effect of massive weight loss WITHOUT having to eat tasteless cardboard low fat food – what’s not to like?
Here are some pictures of the most recent lunch we held. If you’d like to come along to the next one, please get in touch on 01756 700100. You can also visit the Low Carb Skipton website here: http://www.lowcarbskipton.co.uk

Yorkshire offers a wealth of delights for history lovers
Yorkshire holidays for history lovers
There’s nothing quite like the excitement of stepping back in time and thanks to the huge range of castles, stately homes and museums in Yorkshire, lovers of history will be spoilt for choice. With this in mind, we thought we’d offer a few suggestions for great places to visit during a short break or holiday in Yorkshire.
Castles and Abbeys
Yorkshire is literally littered with castles and abbeys – from the world famous Fountains Abbey through to Bolton Abbey, Bolton Castle and Skipton Castle to name but a few. Skipton Castle is almost right on our doorstep, whilst the beautiful Bolton Abbey Estate is just a short drive or bus ride away. Bolton Castle is a little further away in picturesque Wensleydale, whilst the impressive Middleham Castle, once the childhood home of Richard III is also well worth a visit.
A visit to a stately home makes a brilliant day out for the whole family and Beningbrough Hall and Gardens are within easy reach of the Rendezvous Hotel. With over eight acres of formal gardens to explore, plus the house itself, Beningbrough Hall is a real gem. Harewood House and Gardens really are impressive; one of the most significant historic houses in England, this beautiful home has a large art collection, plus bird gardens and a fantastic adventure playground. Last and by no means least is Skipton Castle – one of the best-preserved and most complete medieval castles in England – makes an ideal destination for a fun-filled morning or afternoon out.
Yorkshire can boast a huge and incredibly diverse range of fascinating museums, from national museums such as the Royal Armouries and the Media Museum in Bradford, through to small local museums run by dedicated volunteers.
Ripon is within easy reach of Skipton and has several great museums including the Workhouse Museum and the Courthouse Museum, whilst Grassington Folk Museum offers an insight into rural life in centuries past. The Bronte Parsonage Museum in Howarth is a must-see destination for fans of the Bronte Sisters whilst the Dales Countryside Museum in Hawes makes an exciting day out.
These are just a handful example of the many great historical attractions in Skipton and surrounding areas. For further information and suggestions, please visit Welcome to Yorkshire.
