Accommodation Special Offers![]() A Christmas Day Surprise for Nine Craven ResidentsSkipton’s Rendezvous Hotel raised the spirits of nine local residents this Christmas as it invited a group of elderly ladies and gentlemen to join them for a special festive dinner. Just before Christmas, the Rendezvous Hotel placed a story in the Craven Herald asking people to nominate elderly friends or family members who they thought deserved to be wined and dined on Christmas Day at the canal-side hotel. Rendezvous received a great response and selected a group of local residents, who would otherwise have spent Christmas Day alone, to join them for a free festive feast. Free transport for all nine guests was also provided by Station Taxis on the day ensuring everyone arrived at the hotel and returned home safely after the celebrations. One of the lucky ladies to be chosen was Mrs Vera Dawson from Farnhill who was nominated by her neighbour, Mrs Joyce Wood. “It was such a lovely surprise and I had a wonderful day,” said Mrs Dawson. “The hotel sent a car to collect me at 2 o’clock and they brought me home again afterwards; they looked after us all so well. I made some super new friends too who had also been nominated to spend Christmas at the Rendezvous.” Another guest was Dorothy Jessop who runs SCAD (Skipton & Craven Action for Disability) who brought with her two further guests. One of the nominees, Renee Rowe, 74, was unable to attend on Christmas Day due to illness. However, ensuring nobody misses out, Mr Weaving, owner of Rendezvous Hotel, has promised to take Renee for lunch at the hotel on 5 January to celebrate her birthday.
