Further success for the Rendezvous at the Group Leisure & Travel Awards
We’re delighted to announce that the Rendezvous Hotel, the Yorkshire hotel by the canal, has been crowned the top independent hotel for groups in the UK.
The prestigious accolade was awarded at the Group Leisure & Travel Awards, a national awards scheme that recognises hoteliers, destinations, visitor attractions and other tourism suppliers that deliver first class customer service for group travel organisers.
We were the only privately owned, independent hotel to make it through as a finalist in the category for ‘Best Accommodation for Groups’, joining a six-strong shortlist featuring five major hotel chains, including Warner Leisure Hotels. The overall winner was West Country-based Daish’s Holidays that operates 10 hotels across the UK.
Malcolm Weaving, the owner of the Rendezvous Hotel, commented: “Making it through as a finalist in any awards scheme is always good news. However, to be the only privately-owned, independent hotel in the UK to make the list of finalists really does reflect the commitment from everyone at the Rendezvous to really deliver the very best customer service to the many groups who stay with us each year.”
This is the second success for the Rendezvous in 2019. In March we won the category for Accommodation Provider (Independent Hotels) at the British Coach Tourism Awards, an accolade we have won four times over the last six years.
“Whilst being successful in awards is great news for the hotel, it also brings benefits to the tourism economy of Skipton and north Yorkshire. Groups are able to take advantage of ‘The Real Yorkshire Experience’, a three or four-day short break that includes visits to many of the area’s best known visitor attractions. Our new all-electric restaurant and function boat ‘Graceful Swan’, which is due to be completed towards the end of this year, will be an added reason for groups to visit Skipton and should put us in a good position to win even more awards in 2020.”
Graceful swan will be the only 56 seater electric boat on the canals of Great Britain. This Eco-Friendly boat is in addition to our two electric car charging points and our renewable energy biomass boilers that heat the hot water systems in the hotel.
We are very proud to be doing our bit towards slowing down global warming and helping Craven District Council to achieve it’s ecological target by 2022. Simultaneously bringing more day visitors to add to our 43,000 plus people bed nights that we bring to the hotel each year to experience the delights of the town and the Yorkshire Dales.
