First things first. Welcome!
We fully appreciate you have a choice when it comes to choosing a hotel for your group. Making sure you feel welcomed is therefore very important to us.
Our location is rather important too. We’re on the Leeds Liverpool Canal, just a mile south of the beautiful market town of Skipton, the ‘Gateway to the Dales’. That makes us a popular choice as a base from which to explore the area.
With 96 bedrooms, we can look after your group, whatever the size. We are also blessed with having two lounges – our Hospitality Lounge seating 70, and our Bar Lounge seating 65 – so there’s plenty of space for your group to relax together after dinner.
Like many hotels, we have a selection of function and meeting rooms. However, you might be surprised to learn that we also have one of the largest square hotel ballrooms in the north of England (3,100 sq ft). It’s the reason why so many dance groups stay with us, and why we host many group events that need a large space.
To be fair, we can’t promise you the world, although we do try, but we can promise you we’ll do everything we can to make sure you and your group have a memorable stay, and for all the right reasons!
Here’s what makes us special, and why we were voted ‘Accommodation Provider of the Year’ 2014, 2016 and 2018 at the British Coach Tourism Awards, and a three-times runner-up in the Individual Hotel category of the Group Travel Awards.
- We have an experienced, professional and enthusiastic team who know what you, as a group organiser, require to please your customers
- We have a Group Charter and a Tour Charter, so you’ll know what level of service you’re going to receive
- Whether you’re staying with us and going off to explore the area, or if you’re going to be with us for a special event, we can arrange late dinners, early breakfasts, quick lunches, in fact almost anything you need
- For your dinner, we offer you a three-course meal with multiple choices for each course. Coffee and chocolate mints nicely round-off the meal. As you’d expect, we cater for special dietary requirements
- We also give you a choice of dining options. when you confirm your booking you can tell us what time you’d like to eat. You can also choose whether you’d like your group to sit at large round tables for 10, or any other configuration you request.
- We will endeavour to have our resident pianist play for you during dinner on your first evening. If you need evening entertainment, perhaps with a ‘Yorkshire’ twist, we can arrange it
- If you’re not sure what to see and do while you’re with us, we can help you plan an itinerary, and, in most cases, make the arrangements if required. Ask us about ‘The Real Yorkshire Experience’, an itinerary that, to be fair, pretty much does what it says. You can see more about it here.
- We can offer advice and information about local shows and events, including the Great Yorkshire Show, six other annual local town and village agricultural shows, and typical Yorkshire entertainment shows.
- We can also help you organise something special, perhaps a two or three-day themed event, or a ‘40s night or tribute night
- We can also offer suggestions should the weather turn wet
- There’s free parking for the coach or minibus. If you’re on a self-drive break, with members of your group travelling from different parts of the country, our large car park has room for everyone. All of our parking has CCTV security
- For added peace of mind, our hospitality desk has someone on duty 24/7
- Your group receives complimentary use of our leisure club. There’s a swimming pool, spa pool, a fully equipped gym, sauna and steam room
- If you need it, we can provide a porter service
- There’s a regular bus service from outside the hotel into Skipton, or you can walk into town along the canal towpath (exactly one mile). For something different, we can arrange for you to be picked up from the hotel by boat and taken into Skipton, or perhaps enjoy a longer scenic cruise
- We have a drying room for the use of walking groups
- Fibre optic Superfast broadband is available throughout the hotel.
So, quite a list, but then again, we’re not your usual hotel. We have a saying: “Who cares? We do!” We pride ourselves on the service we offer, and should something go wrong, we endeavour to put it right. We’re also members of the National Campaign for Courtesy, an organisation that bestowed the honour of Top Town for Courtesy on Skipton in 2017.
We’re a family-run hotel with the owners, Malcolm and Karen Weaving, living in the hotel. In fact, we like to say that all the staff are part of the Rendezvous ‘family’.

I want to thank you all for a lovely stay we had with you on my 70th birthday, 6th September. We all had a fabulous time,and I was particularly pleased to introduce my daughters to your hotel, which we have been to several times. The staff were wonderful, bringing in my cake- specially done by my daughters to embarrass me!- and even singing!Surely beyond the call of duty!
Thank you also for the card and chocolates in the room, a lovely touch.
We would have liked to have stayed longer, but we had to leave the cats and chickens to fend for themselves, as we were altogether for once. We will come again though, for longer next time.

Golf Society Weekend
On behalf of all the members of our golf society, may I think you, all the hotel staff and the hotel owner for your warm and friendly treatment of us, your great service at all times and your wonderful hospitality. The facilities at the hotel are first rate and we had everything we could need. The food was excellent and the whole experience was exceptional value for money.

Congleton Ramblers 5th to 8th October 2018
On behalf of the 31 members of our Rambler Group (Congleton) I would like to thank every member of Staff for making our stay in Yorkshire a lovely memorable occasion.
I have received positive feedback from everyone who came on the weekend break who have indicated their desire to return to the Rendezvous Hotel in the future.
The rooms are well equipped and most have views overlooking the Leeds Liverpool Canal.
The staff are friendly, helpful and polite, nothing is too much trouble. The Hotel is spotlessly clean, warm and welcoming. We were made to feel at home from check in to check out.
The restaurant overlooks the canal with the hills and sheep in the background.
The food served is wholesome hearty and filling.
Breakfast is buffet style with everything from Pastries, fruit, cereal, yoghurts, to a full English breakfast.
Dinner in the evenings comprised of three courses followed by Teas of all varieties, coffee and mints. The restaurant was busy every evening, however this did not detract from the fast and efficient service from the kitchen staff to the waiting staff. The food was good Yorkshire Fayre, hot, hearty and tasty. Just what is needed after a long days walking.
On the weekend of our visit there were two functions at the Hotel. All members commented that upon retiring to their rooms for the night not one function could be heard, thus ensuring a sound night’s sleep.
The proprietor, Mr Malcom Weaving is a very personal gentleman who runs a tight but extremely happy Ship.

On behalf of the Figaro Owners Club, I wanted to officially thank you for the great weekend you gave our members. I really appreciate the amount of extra work in handling a booking of this size, especially with all the ‘add-ons’ that were involved. It all seemed to run like clockwork and I have had nothing but positive feedback.
I was absolutely stunned at how beautiful the room looked for the dinner; a few of us all said the same thing; that we thought it was the room set up for the wedding the following day it looked so good. Thank you so much for that.
The food was tremendous; again numerous people told me how good it was compared with the usual experience of dining with large scale numbers. The beef was exceptional; I had it myself and genuinely thought it was the best beef I’ve had, it was so beautifully tender and several other people said the same to me. Please pass on our thanks to the chef.
I wasn’t there for breakfast, obviously (Amanda knows I don’t do mornings), but again I’m told this was excellent.
On Sunday night the pie n peas went down well, and again I was impressed that my gluten free option was actually a gf pie; I was over the moon as I usually get given a salad on such occasions – which is always depressing when everyone else is tucking in to pie n peas.
The members really enjoyed their stay and there were many comments on how superb and welcoming you all were; fantastic hospitality.
On Sunday night we asked and took a headcount of people to find out how many had never been to Yorkshire before; it was more than half of them, and so many have told us they definitely want to come back, so I think you have done us all proud for your part in that J

On behalf of my father and family I would like to thank you and your team at the Rendezvous Hotel for your professional and kind attention yesterday after the funeral service of my mother. On arrival we were pleased with the welcome that was given to all of our guests and the continuing attentive care during the course of the funeral refreshments. The buffet not only looked very attractive but was most delicious and many of our guests commented on the high standard of the venue and food. I am writing to say a massive thank you for an absolutely fantastic time we all had up at Rendezvous Hotel Skipton.
Most of the older generation chose to come up Friday, enjoyed a chin-wag over lunch which carried on past Dinner in the Baby Swan Restaurant.
My generation chose to arrive Saturday and enjoy the Pool with our children. The Jacuzzi was a welcome break. We loved the pool area so much we were very nearly late for dinner! Lovely Function room, fantastically decorated! We were not expecting that – thank you! Food was lovely & well cooked! The only complaint was we had too much to eat! Everyone enjoyed themselves immensely.
Many thanks for the loan of a Projector. I used it to show Great Grandad’s Navy War Record. As a family we had reserved two nights with which we thought we could meet up. The 13th would have been 100yrs to the day Great Grandad was shot in the leg (the Battle of Ancre was the last Action of the Somme). The 19th (the day we actually met up) was 100yrs to the day his leg was Amputated. Watching the older generation demonstrate how he walked with his Pot Leg was quite hilarious!
The Bar was well stocked (though the Wedding Party & I tried hard to drink all the Guinness!). My apologies for asking for the late bar to be reopened. In my defence, the Wedding bar had closed & what was left of the Wedding Party joined us in sampling a nightcap or 3.
Breakfast was also fantastic! I was not expecting tables to be reserved for us all so soon after going to bed 😉 Everyone ate a hearty breakfast! Father exclaimed he now wants his tomatoes cooked this way.
We loved it so much, we will be back! Many, many thanks…

Having met your events co-ordinator when I made the original booking for my bridge holiday, I was fairly confident that all would be well.
I was wrong! Everything was amazing. The staff were friendly, efficient, and generous with their smiles. The room where we played bridge was ideal with excellent lighting so that even the most visually impaired of us couldn’t blame bad light for mistakes in playing the cards. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable. The food was delicious. Even the weather was good, though I suspect that was not under your control.
I am hoping you were equally happy with us as we shall definitely be begging to return.

I just wanted to drop you an email to thank you & everyone concerned for the fantastic Christmas break we had with you again this year. I can’t quite remember if it is 7 or 8 years that we have been coming but every year is brilliant & the staff this year excelled themselves. The food as always remains excellent & it makes such a difference to have that & staff who were so lovely. Please pass our sincere thanks to everyone as without their hard work it just wouldn’t have been the same.
What a night! I just wanted to thank you on behalf of myself and all the staff from Wards 1 and Ward 2 for the fantastic Christmas party night on Friday. The food was great and even the last minute vegetarian requests were done without a hitch! The atmosphere was fab, as was the music. All in all, it is unanimously the best Christmas party that we have had and we are already looking forward to booking for next year.

Also, do you have any dates for an all-nighter like we did last year. I’m thinking of enlarging it a bit this year, if possible and running something like ’24hrs in Skipton’ to include daytime workshops, a gala dinner, overnight stay and all night dancing…
So if you do have any dates (Sunday into Monday if it is a Bank Holiday) could you break down the costs for me so that I can offer a ‘build-your-own break’ type package. One cost for the whole thing, without dinner, without stay etc… that way we might make it accessible to more people.

Is this a modern Phenomenon or has it always been the case that grandparents have looked after their grandchildren from time to time? Well of course we have all cared for our grandchildren to differing degrees, either doing the school run, babysitting, feeding and watering or occasional days out. But for many the thought of taking grandchildren on holiday may not have occurred.
The Daily chore of `helping out` brings its own rewards, but too often the time is spent ferrying, cooking or watching tv or playing electronic games. On holiday the relationship between generations can blossom as quality time is spent sharing all the activities of the day.
The Rendezvous at Skipton provides a superb base for `Greystaycation` The hotel offers spacious family rooms, ideal for two adults and children, with all the usual facilities you might expect. There are two comfortable lounge areas, one with sky sports tv, a choice of dining areas and menus and a leisure club with a child friendly pool.
Skipton and the surrounding area offer many opportunities for young and older to spend quality time together including easy walking in the Dales, canal trips, farm parks and many others, with an annual programme of special events in the area, there is always something different to enjoy.
We have now enjoyed several visits to the Rendezvous both with our children and their families and just with our grandchildren. These have been special times which will hopefully continue for many years to come.

I would just like to say how much I appreciated the service given by both yourself and your staff for the meeting of the Trefoil Guild yesterday. Everyone involved with the planning and management of the event was impressed by your kindness and co-operation. It appeared that nothing was too much trouble for you – and I’m sure some things were! I have been the Region Chairman for the past five years and can honestly say that we have never experienced such good service at any of our previous venues.

Thank you for your recent letter and I would just like to also thank you and all the staff there for making our weekend for the Hash House Harriers extra happy and special.
I have to say that all of the staff we encountered were cheery and friendly towards us, I realise we are a rowdy bunch but it seems to have been taken in the good spirit it is intended, no awkward faces but great and efficient service, everyone seemed to try very hard for us.
Food was very nice and the lovely waitresses kind and efficient.
We used the pool facilities too and found it very enjoyable, and the staff always willing to assist there.
We couldn’t fault your hotel and service and I just thought you would like to know that.
It isn’t all hotels who will put up with loud and very enthusiastic but well intentioned people, as all at The Rendezvous did, but you did it very well and we look forward to next years event with great excitement!

The associated and partners of the Crewe society were delighted by their choice of your hotel (rendezvous hotel) for their annual dinner on April 16th 2010, together with an over nights stay for some. On behalf of the Society we thankyou for such excellent good in such sophisticated surroundings. The society exists for the Northern based alumni of Lincoln College, Oxford and our members have many years of events experience. They are thus very critical, but we did not hear one word of criticism. The staff were highly praised not only for their efficiency, but for the plesant manner in which they carried out their duties.
Just a quick email to thank you for all your help regarding the weekend my group have just had at The Rendezvous Hotel. The group enjoyed all of the walks I provided for them from the hotel on Friday, Bolton Abbey Estate on Saturday and yesterday from Grassington to Coniston and back.

We want to say ‘Thank You’ for allowing us to use the Rendezvous Hotel to meet guests and to board the boat on Thursday for the Polish Memorial Service. Thanks also for providing a room for the tea and sandwiches. It was great for people to have refreshments and be able to meet and chat after the service.

I just wanted to thank you for a fantastic evening on Friday night. Everyone has been very complimentary and some people have asked if we can do the same again next year. I thought your staff were excellent and very professional, particularly the manager on the night. The cabaret was great fun and really added something different to the event. Well done to the people who set the room up too, it looked wonderful.
I guess there’s always something we forget, could you let me know if you have our remote control which we used with your projector equipment, we left it behind!

May I take this opportunity to thank you and your staff for what was an excellent weekend, everyone who attended said they had a wonderful time.
