Yorkshire Society Awards 2017 – local winner Rendezvous Hotel
The Annual Yorkshire Society Awards took place on Friday 12th May 2017 – presentations included a range of categories covering everything from Business and Charity, through to Arts and Culture, Community and Sporting Excellence. It was a glittering occasion and offered a wonderful opportunity to meet a wide range of other Yorkshire businesses in the impressive surroundings of the Leeds City Hilton.
“I am delighted to announce that Rendezvous Hotel has been named the Yorkshire Society’s Business of the Year Award 2017!” states Chairman Keith Madeley (MBE). “This is a huge pat on the back for the entire Rendezvous team. Their mission is to bring as many visitors to Yorkshire as possible so they may experience the culture, tranquillity and beauty that our county has to offer. Well done to the whole team!”
He added that “We’re absolutely delighted for them, especially as they were up against some fantastic Yorkshire businesses. On top of running an award winning hotel (twice winners of Best Hotel for Groups in the Coach Tourism Awards 2014/2016, plus runners up for Best Individual Hotel in the Group Travel Awards 2012/2014/2016) Rendezvous has an established commitment to local business networks, with management finding the time to hold the following positions – past President of the Chamber of Trade Executive, Director on Skipton’s Business Improvement District Board and Vice Chairman of the Craven area Federation of Small Businesses to name but a few.
The hotel’s long standing employees thrive on providing all guests with their own special brand of Yorkshire hospitality which resulted in Skipton being crowned the National Campaign for Courtesy ‘Top Town’ of the year 2016 – the first Yorkshire town to ever receive this accolade.
All of this coupled with their association to charity ‘Petal’ which has raised a phenomenal £1.3 million to aid research into Childhood cancer placed them as stand out winners within this category.”

Tour de Yorkshire 2017 passes through Skipton
Yorkshire – the cycling capital of the UK
If you’re a regular reader of our blog, you’ll know that here at the Rendezvous we’re huge fans of cycling in Yorkshire! As we’re sure most Yorkshire folk would agree, you’d have to have been living on Mars last weekend to not have heard about Tour de Yorkshire 2017! Skipton was lucky enough to once again be part of the action when Stage 3 passed through the town on Sunday and if you watched the race, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
Yorkshire has become something of a cycling hub and this obsession with two-wheeled transport seems to have been kick-started by the part the county played in the opening stage of the 2014 Tour de France. Widely acknowledged as a huge success, hosting the Grand Depart of the Tour de France has led to Yorkshire becoming (as if it wasn’t already!) one of the best places in UK to get out and about on two wheels.
Now whether you like nothing more than a gentle cycle along rolling country lanes, or prefer to challenge yourself by tackling some of the Yorkshire’s legendary hill climbs, this part of the world has something to offer cyclists of all levels of skill and experience. Here at the Rendezvous we’re incredibly proud of our superb location on banks of the Skipton Canal and within easy reach of the Yorkshire Dales and it’s this close proximity to some of the best cycling Yorkshire has to offer which has help to make us one of the most popular Yorkshire Dales hotels for cyclists.
Cycle friendly accommodation in the Yorkshire Dales
We offer guests the benefits of our cycle-friendly accommodation which includes secure bike storage, provision of hydration/energy supplements before a ride and packed lunches made to order, whilst road recovery can be arranged at extra cost. All of our guests have full access to our leisure facilities – a great way to unwind after a long day in the saddle – and our restaurant offers a wide range of delicious, home-cooked meals made from locally sourced ingredients.
Our cycle-friendly accommodation is available to cycling groups or individual travellers and if you’d like to find out more, or to make a reservation, why not get in touch today? We’d love to hear from you!
